Simulation Workshop
Scottish Centre for Simulation & Clinical Human Factors, based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital
Wednesday 28th November
This airway management simulation day builds on the success and popularity of simulation events at several previous DAS ASMs. This year, held at the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors (SCSCHF), and delivered by a faculty of airway and human factors experts, this workshop is designed for all grades of anaesthetist from CT1 to Consultant. It will also benefit Operating Department Practitioners and Anaesthetic Assistants.
With familiarity of airway guidelines, and insights into human factors impacting upon individual and team performance, the workshop will provide ample opportunity for candidates to participate in simulated airway scenarios, with a high faculty to delegate ratio.
We will introduce a tailored package, the ‘Airway Tool Kit’, providing relevant human factor knowledge and crisis resource management interventions. These will be rehearsed throughout the day.
Regular debriefing will include the integration of the Tool Kit principles into clinical practice, improving outcome in airway scenarios.
The day will include transport, lunch and refreshments. Participants will be back at the EICC in time for the Welcome Drinks Reception and Trade exhibition opening.
